Our History
The Home Builders Association of Central Tennessee is a non-profit, member trade association.
Comprised of professional builders, developers, and associated firms engaged directly or indirectly in
homebuilding, remodeling, residential land development, and light commercial construction. Charter
was established January 25, 1977, as the Rutherford County Association of Realtors. In
2019, the name was changed to Home Builders Association of Central Tennessee when more counties
were added to our service area. HBACT has a strong connection to the Home Builders Association of Tennessee and National Association of Home Builders. The role of HBACT is to support the building industry throughout six counties in Central Tennessee. To be the voice of the housing industry at the local level, and act as a liaison between the local, state, and national associations.
A vital part of our mission is advocacy for the residential construction industry, housing affordability and housing availability. This is accomplished through legislation, communication, and education. Together with our members, we strive for excellence for all industry professionals, protect the housing industry with proactive responses within regulatory agencies, and provide our members what they need to achieve maximum success in their profession. In addition to these tenets, we are an active proponent of non-profit ventures in our local community as well as supporting those students at the college level who are pursuing academia to enter the building industry.
The HBACT is aware that "together we win" is a staple of success in every area of life. And to this end, we work arm-in-arm with our members.
We are excited to partner with you in your venture to ensure your best success!
